In my column in the last issue, I mentioned my excitement surrounding the June Member Meeting, Golf Outing, and regional Town Hall meetings.
We had a great turnout for our WB Foundation Golf Outing which Greg discusses later on in this issue, and we had some great speakers and discussion at the Member Meeting. We know it’s not easy for people to take time away from their jobs and construction sites to travel to our meetings, but we appreciate those who do so that we can continue to advance the housing industry to benefit us all. Our next Member Meeting will be virtual, so we hope that even more of you will be able to join us since you can tune in from your home, office, or wifihotspot. Mark your calendar for October 17 and stay tuned for communications from WBA on the agenda and registration.
I’ve talked a lot since I’ve taken over as President about bringing the magic back to the association. One of the projects I wanted to get off the ground and see to fruition, was to schedule regional Town Hall meetings throughout the state. You may be engaged in your local association’s meetings and might find it hard to travel to Madison, so I wanted to make sure we came to you. So far, we’ve had great discussions at our Green Bay and Eau Claire region meetings and look forward to our upcoming meetings in Oshkosh and Waukesha. If you live in those areas and have not yet registered, visit www.wisbuild.org/eventsto sign up. We have been and plan to continue discussing local issues in your area, industry challenges, best practices, and WBA/NAHB member benefits that you may not be aware of.
This will likely be my last column as President in the Badger Builder, but I can guarantee this isn’t the last you’ll be hearing from me. Much work can be done to continue advancing the pro-housing agenda, and whether I am serving on the Executive Committee or not, I plan to be engaged and am available to anyone who has great ideas and wants to discuss how to improve the homebuilding climate.
Let’s keep the magic going at WBA! -Harvey
